Wirksworth brings you the only town wide community event in the UK for fans of Harry Potter.
Building on the success of previous years and after a break due to Covid, Wirksworth Wizarding Day returns on Sunday 9th October 2022. Visitors can expect magic and wonder, snakes and owls, broomsticks, train rides, a London Routemaster bus, magical crafts, a wizarding emporium of stalls and hundreds of witches and wizards in their best robes. The day is raising funds for two good causes – Aquabox and the Wirksworth Skatepark Appeal.
Witches and wizards of all ages can enjoy a range of magical activities which will be announced as they are finalised. They include special Wizarding Express Trains from Duffield to Wirksworth, an owlery at Wirksworth Station and Wild Roots Creative charms and herbology classes in a converted railway carriage. The Feather Star and Red Lion plan a range of activities. Look out for the smoking dragon guarding it’s nest of goodies, wizardly drinks and a Quidditch re-match between Wirksworth and nearby Middleton village. Laylo the Magician returns with his close-up magic and the Town Hall will be the venue for a Great Hall feast.
Details about activities and bookings for the train will be published on the event website wizardingday.com, Facebook page Wirksworth Wizarding https://www.facebook.com/wirksworthwizarding and Instagram wizardingwirksworth.
Parking for muggle cars is limited in Wirksworth. If you are unable to arrive by broomstick, flying carpet, portkey or Wizarding Express, please book or use park and ride https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/wizarding.
Wirksworth Wizarding Day is a fan-created non-profit event put on by our community for the community of Harry Potter fans. Warner Bros. Entertainment and JK Rowling are not associated with or responsible for the day in any way.
