Victorian Matlock-Christmas Weekend and Market Celebrating 27 Years

Friday 2nd December 9am-6pm • Saturday 3rd December 9am-7pm

Sunday 4th December 9am-6pm

Matlock is staging the Victorian Matlock Christmas Weekend and Festive Market for the 27th year. Held in the Derbyshire Dales District Council’s Historic and award winning Hall Leys Park which gives the event its unique setting with the landmark Riber Castle overlooking the park.

The free, family-friendly festive event has its own individuality with many of the stalls being housed in a giant marquee. This gives the event its traditional Christmas market atmosphere with outside stalls adding to the mix.

There is an exciting variety of stalls booked for this year’s event, including traditional craft, local produce, Christmas gifts and festive refreshments and drinks. Fun for all the family will be provided throughout the event by Proctors Christmas Fun Fair.

On Saturday and Sunday, Santa will be visiting his Grotto provided by Matlock Derwent Valley Lions Club with all the profits made by the Lions Club given to local Charities.

The Rotary Club of Matlock has booked stall space on all three days which will be used by several local organisations allowing them to take part in the event to raise money for different local charities.

On Saturday and Sunday the event will be staging a comprehensive entertainment programme on the Bandstand which sits proudly in the centre of Hall Leys Park. The compere for the event over the weekend will be the man known as ‘The Voice of Matlock Bath Illuminations,’ Geoff Stevens MBE.

The Saturday programme will include The Seaforth Highlanders, Pipes, Drums & Dancers, and the West End stage singer Mark Handley. The Event organisers have once again been working closely with Buxton Opera House to bring one of their pantomime stars to the event and this year we will welcome James Holmes to the Bandstand at 4pm. James is best known for his many appearances as Clive in the award-winning TV comedy ‘Miranda’.

The Sunday programme will include The Seaforth Highlanders, Pipes, Drums & Dancers, The Albert Hall appearing Thoresby Colliery Band and Mark Handley.

Top of the bill are the tribute act ‘Bootleg Bee Gees’.

The event grand-finale on Sunday will be the traditional breath-taking Aerial Firework Display at 5.45pm.

This unique Christmas event is organised jointly by: Alan and Sandra Scaife of Special Event Organisers, John Proctor of Proctors Nottingham Funfairs and Matlock Businesses and Community Organisations. They would jointly like to thank Derbyshire Dales District Council and their staff for all their help and assistance.
