Hardy golfers were swingin’ in the rain as they helped to raise an incredible £11,062 for local hospice care during a charity golf day.
Blythe House Hospicecare and Helen’s Trust hosted its annual fundraising golf day at Buxton and High Peak Golf Club on Friday 19th May.
More than 90 golfers didn’t let the weather deter them from supporting their local hospice charity at the sold-out event.
Car dealership, MWF Motors of Chapel-en-le-Frith was the headline sponsor for the day; with food and drink sponsored by portable building and cabin specialists, TF Jackson from Harpur Hill.
Golf balls were kindly donated by kitchen and bedroom family business, Buxton Woodworks; and prizes were provided by builders’ merchants, M Markovitz Ltd; Pak-Pro, of Whaley Bridge; and home care specialists, Home Instead High Peak.
Rachael Gee, fundraising and events coordinator at the hospice, who organised the day, said: ‘A huge and sincere thank you goes to everyone who was involved in making the golf day such a success. We are indebted to fantastic support from local businesses for providing sponsorship and gifts in kind, as well our volunteers who helped on the day, and of course the golfers who took part.
‘There was a great atmosphere and a buzz across the course and in the clubhouse afterwards; we are so grateful to everyone for turning out, having a laugh and raising an amazing sum of money for the charity.’
The total amount raised will go towards providing free of charge care and support to people in the local community who are affected by a life-limiting illness or a bereavement, including patients, family members and loved ones.
