Civic Chair of the Derbyshire Dales, Councillor David Burton, has presented a £300 donation from the civic purse to the Bakewell branch of the Royal British Legion to help with the maintenance of the memorial garden they nurture in the town.

The memorial garden is located in a quiet corner of Derbyshire Dales District Council's Bath Gardens in the heart of Bakewell.

Councillor Burton said: "I attended a Remembrance event in the memorial garden last November and became aware that the RBL need support towards the continuing maintenance costs of this area, which is a beautiful calm retreat residents and tourists can freely enjoy."
