Steeple Grange Light Railway, the Peak District narrow gauge heritage industrial railway beloved of families since 1985, reopens for the new season at 11am on Sunday 6th April and operates on Sundays and bank holiday Mondays until late September. It is to be found in beautiful countryside on the Cromford Road a mile north of Wirksworth. Our fares are unchanged. On the bank holiday week-end of 3rd-5th May there is in addition a special event to mark the 200th anniversary of the Cromford and High Peak Railway, one of the earliest in the world.
Railways do not look after themselves. All year round our members work to maintain the track, cut back vegetation and keep our historic trains in safe working condition. If you are eighteen or over and would like to see what they do, and perhaps join them, please contact us through our website or just turn up when we are open. https://www. SGLR.co.uk
