Local people can again jog into the new year by taking part in family friendly events at two fabulous Derbyshire Dales locations.
The fun starts on the High Peak Trail from the National Stone Centre at Wirksworth on Sunday 14 January and moves on to Matlock’s Hall Leys Park on Saturday 3 February. If you can’t make either of the dates, there’s a virtual option too!
The 3k Fun Run, Walk, Wheel(chair) challenges are once again being organised by Derbyshire Dales District Council's Sports Development Team, who are repeating a successful series of 3k events they have staged over the past two years.
In 2023 146 people took part in the Matlock event and 110 at Wirksworth.
The small entry fee of £3 (£10 per family) is unchanged from previous years and includes eco-friendly medals for everyone taking part. Sign-ups are available now at www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/funrun
The District Council's Physical Activity and Sports Development Officer Katie Burns said: "There’s no better way embrace 2024 than getting out into some of the Derbyshire Dales’ beautiful parks and green spaces.
“These 3k events have proved really popular over the past two years. The atmosphere is always great and it’s another opportunity for all ages and abilities to get outside and get active with family and friends.”
