Club meeting Round Up
Our speaker at the lunchtime meeting on 21st August was Dr Mike Diprose and his presentation of the unsung enterprise, organisation, perseverance and endeavours of the Polish “underground” during WW2, with Russia to the east and Germany to the west and Poland under German control for much of the war. The Enigma machine was a Polish discovery 8 years ahead of the Brits - and we learnt of the amazing concealment and research on the captured German V-bomber with full details sent to the allied command! Well worth a trip to the special exhibition at the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum, in Doncaster.
Speaker at the evening meeting on 28th August was our member Ian Ord who gave a very professional and visually stunning presentation “Around the World in 80 weeks” with short film clips of his travels from Australia, South America and Caribbean as well as back home at Chatsworth – and of his home in the Edale Valley and holiday home in France – including some fascinating footage using drones. A very entertaining evening.
