Once again, the Red House Stables in Darley Dale will be offering their own ‘Santa Specials’ as a fundraising event for Darley Dale in Bloom.
The Carriage Rides will take place on Saturday 10 December from 11-1pm around the historic Whitworth Park at a cost of £5 per person. Santa will also be giving each of the lucky children a dip in his bag of sweets and there is the chance to win a large teddy bear in the raffle with a 50p raffle ticket! The owner, Caroline Dale-Leech, MBE, has been supporting Darley Dale in Bloom for many years now, and, in recognition of her hard work, was given another Judges’ Award for fundraising after the group’s entry in the East Midlands in Bloom competition this summer. Caroline has also recently been elected as Vice President of the British Driving Society, so you will be in safe hands!
Although the Carriage Museum has been closed for several years now, Caroline will be driving one of her remaining historic carriages, which has been carefully restored and maintained, to give a very traditional feel to touring the Whitworth Park. The two white horses, Bertie and Bassett, will be decked out in their own festive bells and ear-muffs to enter into the spirit of Christmas!
For further details, or to check if the event will take place in case of inclement weather, please contact Caroline on 01629 733583 or 07717 334359. Don’t forget that you can have a drink and a scrumptious piece of cake, or lunch, in the Terrace café after your ride!
