MIDDLETON-BY-YOULGRAVE ANNUAL MARKET SATURDAY, 25TH MAY

Middleton-by-Youlgrave is holding its annual market day on saturday 25th May between midday and 4pm in the square.

There is free ample car parking, with only a short walk to the village square (DE45 1LS).

Teas available in the village hall Saturday and Sunday (10am-4pm for well-dressing visitors).

Blessing of The Well – Sunday 25th May at 6.30pm in the Square, followed by Evensong service at 6.45pm.

The well-dressing is located on the 1876 tap well just before you enter the Square from the Youlgrave end. Children’s well-dressing boards are displayed opposite the telephone box .

Awaiting you in the square are the traditional Middleton Market stalls. We offer a great selection of plants, mostly grown in our new community greenhouse. The ‘Cakes and Bakes’ stall always offers a real choice of locally made cakes and bakes. This year’s books stall has a wide selection of books, CDs and LPs – notably Country and Western. Nip across to the Vintage/Pre-loved stall – plenty of surprise bargains there. And who knows what curiosities are on the bric-a-brac stall!

Middleton is one of the most picturesque villages in the White Peak, much of it built in the 1820s and little changed since then.

Why not explore it, using the new Explore Middleton guide to find your way around its open gardens and many other features? If you’re interested in history, discover Middleton’s story by following the history boards located around the village.

For entertainment come and enjoy the Winster Morris Dancers.

Try your luck with the classic skittles in the playground. Children are welcome to find the clues on the Hedgehogs trail – get a trail sheet from the Information Desk next to the main well-dressing. What about a flutter on the tombola?

Maybe you’d appreciate the quiet and classical music in St Michael and All Angels’ Church. The church will be open with a display of flowers too.

Buy a burger at the entrance to the playground. It has seating for visitors needing a rest.

Give yourself a real treat by going down to the village hall to enjoy the Market Teas – an excellent choice of cakes, plus sandwiches and hot drinks.

Plenty to enjoy: come and join us!

(The Middleton-by-Youlgrave Village Hall Committee regrets that its previously announced event of Middleton Rocks, scheduled for Saturday 1st June, has been cancelled.)
