Matlock Music Society continues its exciting 2024/25 season on Friday 8th November with a concert given by Horizon Voices, a vocal ensemble that aims to encourage existing and new audiences to explore choral music. The concert will be the first time a vocal group has performed for the Society in its 50 year history.
The singers are soprano Lindsey James, an alumna of the Genesis Sixteen and VOCES8 Scholar programmes, soprano Natalie Houlston, who has close relationships with BBC Singers, Tenebrae and The Sixteen, mezzo-soprano Sophie Timms, an alumna of the Genesis Sixteen and VOCES8 Scholar programmes, tenor James Rhodes, a conductor and music education specialist, and bass-baritone Alex Pratley, an experienced ensemble singer who gained distinction in vocal performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Their programme is titled “Around me falls the night” and will include a wide range of musical styles. Works will include Palestrina’s Exultate Deo, Purcell’s Evening Hymn, Dowland’s Come Heavy Sleep, several works by Monteverdi, Morley’s When Lo by Break of Morning, MacMillan’s O Radiant Dawn and Finzi’s My Spirit Sang All Day.
Do come and join us for what promises to be a rare opportunity to hear an exciting evening of live, first-class vocal music.
