Victor Maslov - piano
Matlock Music Society continues its exciting 2023/24 season with a concert on Friday 2nd February given by the internationally acclaimed pianist Victor Maslov.
Victor began his studies at the Gnessin Moscow Special School of Music where he was taught by his mother. He gave his concerto debut at the age of nine with the State Symphony Orchestra of Moscow and has since performed with orchestras around the world. He has also given solo performances at international music festivals across the UK, Europe and the USA. Venues have included the Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Carnegie Hall and Cadogan Hall.
He has been a prize winner in several international competitions. After winning the Antwerp International Competition in 2020, he went on to win first prize at the 2nd International Rachmaninoff Competition in Moscow. An article in New York Concert Review described him as “one of those people who is close to all-round mastery of his repertoire” following his performance at Carnegie Hall.
Victor’s programme will include Silvestrov’s 3 Bagatelles op.1, Rachmaninoff’s 8 Etudes-tableux op.33, four pieces by De Falla including Ritual Fire Dance and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.
