MATLOCK MUSIC PRESENTS LIVE MUSIC IN THE DALES

Clare Hammond – piano

Matlock Music Society’s next concert on Friday 28th March sees the return of virtuoso pianist Clare Hammond. Since her last visit to Matlock in 2017, Clare has continued her extensive international career with performances in concert halls and festivals across Europe and regularly broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and other European radio networks. As well as extensive solo recitals, she has appeared as a concerto soloist with major international orchestras including the Philharmonia, BBC Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Swedish Chamber Orchestra. A recent review stated that “the audience wanted to hear even more of Clare’s light-as-a-feather, precise and beautifully sounding playing”. Acclaimed as a “pianist of extraordinary gifts” (Gramophone) and “immense power” (The Times), Clare is recognised for the virtuosity and authority of her performances.

Her programme will include Debussy – a selection from Preludes and Images Book 1, Holst – Fancine, Lucille and Jig, Fauré – Nocturnes Nos 12 and 8 and Ravel – Tombeau de Couperin.

Do come and join us for what promises to be an outstanding evening of live, first-class music.

Future events include harpist Louise Thompson on 25th April. Full details of the 2024/25 season are given on the society’s website.

The concert is on Friday 28th March at the Wheeldon Hall, Highfields School, Lumsdale, off the Chesterfield Road, Matlock, DE4 5NA starting at 7.30pm. Tickets at £15 will be available at the door.
