MATLOCK LUNCHEON CLUB – A ‘THRILLING’ TIME

Caroline England and Chair, Carol Taaffe-Finn

Members of Matlock Luncheon Club, and some welcomed guests, recently enjoyed a sociable lunch at the esteemed Peak Edge Hotel near Chesterfield.

A post lunch talk by the CWA (Crime Writers’ Association) Dagger Prize Shortlisted Caroline England aka ‘the Duchess of dark domestic noir’ gave everybody further fuel for thought as she shared the background to her world as a published author of fiction as herself and her alter ego, C E Rose. Co-incidentally the lunch was held on the publication day of Caroline’s latest book ‘The Shadows of Rutherford House’

Drawing on her legal background as a divorce and professional indemnity lawyer, and even her schooldays in Derbyshire, Caroline develops storylines of relatable ‘ordinary’ characters caught up in extraordinary situation, dilemmas or crime in her psychological thrillers. In addition to her inspiration for storylines she described the sometimes challenging world of publishers, agents and promotions – and how bestseller status can be achieved. That was fascinating!

The Luncheon Club meets monthly and is pleased to welcome new members from across northeast Derbyshire to share food, good company and a varied programme of talks. Further details can be found on its website www.matlocklunch eonclub.co.uk
