Matlock Music Society starts its exciting 2023/24 season with a concert by the acclaimed violinist Eleanor Corr accompanied by Emil Duncumb.
Eleanor came to fame as the winner of the Royal Overseas League Music Competition in 2020 and is a Philip and Dorothy Green Young Artist. She has performed extensively throughout the UK and overseas and has broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and Sky Arts. Following her work as an orchestral mentor, she has been awarded Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, an award for Academy alumni who have distinguished themselves in the music profession and made a significant contribution to their field. In addition to her solo work, she performs with the renowned Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique and promotes early music with her award-winning quartet, Pocket Sinfonia.
Emil was born in Sheffield and moved to Norway when he was seven and started to play the piano when he was nine. Since then he has won numerous awards and has received outstanding reviews of his concerts both in Norway and abroad.
Their varied programme will include Tchaikovsky’s White Swan, Mozart’s Sonata in E Minor, de Falla’s Canciones Populares Españolas, Elgar’s Sospiri, Poldowski’s Largo and Grieg’s Sonata in G major.
Members will no doubt remember their superb online recital during the Covid restrictions and this concert will be a superb way of hearing them live.
Do come and join us for what promises to be an exciting evening of live first-class music-making with probably one of the most exciting and innovative of today’s generation of young musicians.
