Matlock Music continues its very successful season on 2nd December with a performance by the internationally acclaimed pianist Dominic Degavino. He makes a very welcome return to Matlock following his startling performance last year as a member of the Mithras Ensemble.
Born in Chesterfield, Dominic grew up in Milton Keynes and started to play the piano when he was 7 years old and went on to be a category finalist in the BBC Young Musician 2012 when he was only 16. Having completed studies at Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music, he recently graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He has already achieved considerable competition success including the RNCM Gold Medal Competition and was described as “a pianist worth watching” by The Times.
He will perform Mozart’s Sonata in F major, K 332, Chopin’s Ballade no 2 in F major Op 38, Beach’s 5 Improvisations Op 148, Schubert’s Allegretto in C minor D915 and Brahms’ Sonata no 3 in F minor, Op5.
The concert is at the Wheeldon Hall, Highfields School, Lumsdale, off the Chesterfield Road, Matlock, DE4 5NA starting at 7.30pm. Season membership giving access to all concerts costing £50 and single concert tickets at £15 will be available at the door, payable by cheque (if possible). Under 18s are free and students and registered job-seekers pay half-price. All seats are unreserved. There is ample parking at the school.
