LIVE MUSIC IN THE DALES

Charlotte Bowden, Soprano




Matlock Music continues its very successful season on 3rd February with a performance by the internationally acclaimed soprano Charlotte Bowden, accompanied by pianist Ella O’Neill.

Charlotte is a 2022 Glyndebourne Festival Jerwood Young Artist and made her Wigmore Hall Debut during the London Handel Festival and was a finalist in the 2022 Kathleen Ferrier awards. On the concert platform she has performed a wide range of repertoire at the Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Cadogan Hall and Snape Maltings. She has worked with Sir Thomas Allen, Dame Sarah Connolly, Dame Felicity Lott and other renowned musicians.

Ella graduated with distinction from the Royal College of Music in 2019 having studied postgraduate piano accompaniment and is now in demand across the UK as a pianist for song, chamber music and opera, performing in all the major concert halls and prestige music festivals. She has recently performed with Roderick Williams and Mark Padmore on the BBC Radio 3 InTune programme.

Charlotte’s programme will include a wide range of works by Purcell, Faure, Debussy, Britten, Quilter, R Strauss, Walton, Undine Smith Moore, Barber and Amy Beach.

The concert is on Friday 3rd February at the Wheeldon Hall, Highfields School, Lumsdale off Chesterfield Road, Matlock, DE4 5NA starting at 7.30pm. Half-season membership giving access to all remaining concerts costing £30 and single concert tickets at £15 will be available at the door, payable by cheque (if possible). Under 18s are free and students and registered job-seekers pay half-price. All seats are unreserved. There is ample parking at the school.
