Hope Show and Breedon Cement have enjoyed a lasting partnership dating back many decades as the prominent local company have supported the Show every year.
This year the Show is delighted to announce Dr Edward Cavanagh, Divisional Industrial Director with the Breedon Group as the 2024 Hope Show President.
Ed has always viewed investing in and maintaining community relations in the Hope Valley as vital to the success of the operations at the cement works so was delighted to be asked to be President. He says:
“I have worked at Hope Cement since 2010 and over this time have always taken a keen interest in the Show as I know and respect so many of the people that help to make it such a success each year.
“Our relationship with the communities of Hope, Castleton and the wider Hope Valley is very precious as we see ourselves as integral to this community. So taking on such a prestigious role within Hope Show is a real privilege as I have visited the show for many years.
“I have such admiration for how it always runs seamlessly, especially as it is wholly organised and managed by local volunteers. There is some trepidation with the role as I feel it is a real responsibility, as to see the support for the show at so many levels is impressive.
“I always look forward to seeing the livestock as the standard of animals shown here is phenomenal. I think it is a real eye opener to see just how much time and effort goes into exhibiting the many different breeds and to observe the passion of all those who are involved.
“I am very much looking forward to Hope Show and to welcoming the thousands of visitors that will be flocking to the principal show in the Peak District on August Bank Holiday Monday. All we need now is the sunshine!”
Preparations for this year’s show are already well underway. Anyone with an interest in being part of this fantastic Show would be very welcome to join the committed group of volunteers; contact the Hope Show Secretary - hopeshow.secretary@gmail.com – for more information about being involved
