On Sunday 2nd July, Great Hucklow village will once again be holding its annual Fell Race, raising hundreds of pounds for charities and local causes. For over 18 years, dozens of residents from Great Hucklow and surrounding villages turn out on a Sunday morning each year to staff registration, provide results, refreshments, and marshal the route. The race is renowned for the quality of its route, which takes runners through a real variety of terrain – moor land, woodland and the unique landscape of Breton Clough – over a challenging 10km (6.1 miles). Almost as important is the home made flapjack donated by local villagers and made available for runners once they cross the finish line. In recent years, there have been around 200 runners descending on the village for the race. The runners will be setting off from Great Hucklow Primary School, at 11am.
