A Christmas Market will be held in Bamford on Saturday 25th November, showcasing local and regional craftspeople, artists, makers and food producers along with a range of festive, family-fun activities on offer, including arts and crafts, wreath making, carol singing, a raffle, (with prizes donated from local businesses supporting the cause) and a tombola, with food and drinks also available to buy on the day.
The event is organised by the Friends of Bamford Play Park and Recreation Ground, a small local group set up by parents to raise money for the refurbishment of Bamford play park. The fundraiser is being arranged in collaboration with registered charity, Bamford with Thornhill Recreation Ground CIO, Registered Charity no. 1185738 , who maintain the upkeep of the recreation ground, where the play park is located.
The market will take place at the Anglers Rest pub, from 11am-4pm. It will cost £3 to enter, with entry free for children under 12 years of age, with all proceeds going towards Friends of Bamford Play Park and Recreation Ground.
The money raised will go towards the replacement of a set of swings, which had to be removed due to damage and rot, making them unsafe to use.
Funds held by the CIO are used for the upkeep of the whole recreation ground, therefore the improvements to the play park require additional fundraising activities by the Friends of Bamford Play Park and Recreation Ground.
Friends of Bamford Play Park and Recreation Ground are looking forward to welcoming local residents in Bamford and the wider area to the Christmas Market on Saturday 25th November, as part of ongoing efforts to raise money for the renovation of Bamford play park.
A representative from the group said: “We know that outdoor play is critical for our children’s mental and emotional health, communication and physical development and social interaction, as well as providing hours of fun and challenge in all weathers. We are, therefore, looking to the generosity of all to help us fundraise for a new and refurbished playground in Bamford which will serve both current and future generations of children. Our ultimate goal is to raise £40,000 to pay for a new set of swings, a roundabout and a see-saw.”
