Derbyshire Wildlife Trust (Wye and Upper Derwent Local Group) – Attenborough Nature ReserveMonday October 21st 2024

Our next talk will be given by one of our most popular speakers, Nigel Slater, who will be speaking about wildlife in an area he knows like the back of his hand, Attenborough Nature Reserve.

The reserve was opened in 1966 by David Attenborough on the site of old gravel pits.

This much loved, nationally important site is best known for its birds with over 250 species recorded, but also provides a home for hundreds of species of plant and insects. It is cited as one of the best places in the UK to see kingfisher and is also home to rare wildlife including bitterns, otters and recently beavers.

Nigel’s photographs are always of the highest quality and his talk will be interesting, educational and entertaining.

The venue is Darley Dale Methodist Church Hall, Dale Road North, Darley Dale DE4 2FT.

The talk starts at 7.30pm and admission is £3.
