The Rewilding of Sycamore Farm

An Illustrated talk by Martin Redman

Monday 16th October, 7.30

Martin and his family came to live in Sycamore Farm near Wirksworth 17 years ago. When they arrived the found an ex- dairy farm, which had become a relative desert of biodiversity sitting in a sea of grassland. They soon began a program of rewilding. They planted native trees and shrubs around the fields, dug two ponds and planted wild flowers.

Martin will speak about how he and his family have worked over the years to create an oasis for wildlife, where the trees have become woodland, the ponds are alive with frogs, newts and dragonflies and the air is full of birds.

This talk is a unique local example of how clear vision, a well thought out plan and lots of very hard work can change the environment for wildlife.

The talk will be hald at Darley Dale Methodist Church Hall, Dale Road North

Darley Dale, Matlock DE4 2FT. Admission £3 including light refreshments. Call 01629 650480 for more information.
