Weather permitting, Darley Dale in Bloom are holding a fundraising event on Saturday 9 December, when the ever-popular Carriage Rides with Santa, courtesy of Red House Stables, will again take place. There is no need to book, just turn up between 11 and 1pm for the opportunity to take a fun ride around the beautiful Whitworth Park with Santa; horses Bassett and Bertie will be decked out in their festive finery too!
Tickets are £5.00 per person which includes a treat from Santa’s bag for the children. There will also be a raffle for a teddy bear.
For further information, contact Caroline Dale-Leech on 01629 733583 or 07717 334359. After your ride, you could then perhaps treat yourself to coffee and cake, or even lunch in the Terrace café!
Caroline is also collecting used postage stamps for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution this year, so any contributions can be posted to, or delivered to, Red House Stables, Old Road, Darley Dale, Matlock, DE4 2ER.
Darley Dale in Bloom have now finished the autumn and winter planting in the A6 beds and around Darley Dale, including beds and planters in the Whitworth Park. Early flowering spring bulbs have also been planted in several locations, so see if you can spot them in the New Year! Plans are being discussed for a gradual switch over to more perennial planting in our beds, so if you’d like to be involved with this, or general volunteering, please contact Val on 07858 963724, or through their Facebook page.
