This year, Cromford Fly Fishers Club are celebrating 150 years of fishing and looking after the River Derwent. Their idea of a party is a work party!
These work parties cover activities such as water quality measurement, water insect monitoring, tree planting and rubbish collection and happen throughout the year.
On Wednesday 15th May, after a thunderstorm, a team, led by Matlock angler, Jonathan Park, spent the evening collecting rubbish, both on the bank and in the water. They were happy with their catch which included a wooden chair, empty cans, a piece of broken pipe and lots of hay bale plastic caught in the trees.
