BASLOW WI DARLINGS

Lorna Wilson, President Baslow WI laying our Poppy Wreath At Baslow St Anne’s Church

Soup and Sweet. Proceeds to President Lorna Wilson's Charity Cancer Research

It's not like me, not at all. I had two soups as I couldn't resist the aroma. With four soups to choose from, you'll appreciate there was a certain measure of self restraint. Low calorie, aren't they, soups? Which, to my mind, meant I could have two puddings! One hot apple crumble and one cold roulade. This logic proved my undoing. I was very full, but happy, very happy.

Kate's Fruit Cake

Tradition has been trashed. There's daring innovation in Kate Treves kitchen. I sampled a slice today and judged the secret ingredient. Delicious, it's a WI winner.

Chatsworth Friends Garden Walk

Neat. Now I know how to protect my gunnera. Cut the leaves, turn them upside down and place on top of the plant so they look like an encampment of green teepees. And a new arrival. A huge silver shooting star has landed in the garden, along with miles of electric cable ready to install the Christmas lights. It could be even better than last year.

A New Broom Sweeps Clean

We've bought two brooms for Baslow Village Hall. A long handled one, at Lorna's request and a traditional dust pan and brush at my request. I hope that doesn't mean we're the only designated people to use them!
