Baslow WI Darlings

L-R: Jane Walker, President Baslow WI, Lorna Wilson, Cate Hunt and Jill Driskell

Women's Wellbeing Festival Baslow Village Hall

Dynamic, darlings! Free Parking! A veritable superabundance of advice, help, self improvement – the list goes on. Thank you DDDC and DCC for our female friendly afternoon. It was so well organised. Cakes and drinks appeared like magic. I could have had my blood pressure taken, I could have been weighed, I could even receive help with weight loss and I could have had my hearing checked, a full MOT really and if I failed there was a full contingency of further support and help. I could even be whisked off in the Community Transport. It was impressive, everyone who attended went away loaded down with pamphlets and info. Brilliant.

WISA Floral Arrangement with Kate Treves

It was like a re-enactment of Dunsinane Wood. Vegetation spewing over tables and chairs, branches being chainsawed into shape, secateurs held aloft at dangerous angles and Kate, a picture of perfect calm, orchestrating our floral fantasies. They were all brilliant, of course.

Visit to Sudbury with Jeanette Lobley

We used the Community Transport – and we'll use it again. We were greeted at Sudbury by two VIP WI Members, Anne and Jane, who really made the day a total success. Venturing into all the nooks and crannies of Sudbury; hearing Sudbury's history and gossip and feeling really welcome. In the afternoon we visited Sudbury Gas Works, a beautifully restored red brick building. I can just remember Baslow Gas Works site – now DDDC Car Park. But, until now, I never appreciated how they operated, nor how much hard labour was required.

Chatsworth WI Coffee Morning

Picturesque surroundings, good coffee and a chance to meet other WI Members. I think we should get together more often.
