Bakewell Carnival Festivities 2023

Bakewell Carnival Committee have been really busy preparing an exceptionally fun packed, action packed week and a half for this year’s carnival 2023.

Last year’s carnival, the first proper carnival since COVID struck did not disappoint. The people of Bakewell and the local villages really stepped up to bring the best Carnival we’ve had in many years. The Bakewell Carnival Facebook page became a fantastic colourful tapestry of wonderful pictures of carnival week, each picture capturing a moment to cherish and telling its own unique story.

We are so lucky in Bakewell to still have our carnival week traditions to share with our children and grandchildren. They offer an opportunity to bring the community together and bridge gaps between generations with shared memories, festivities and the sharing of traditional practices like the art of well dressing.

For the most up to date information regarding the carnival please visit our Bakewell Carnival Face Book page, it is regularly updated and a platform where you the public can share your fantastic pictures and videos.

The Bakewell Carnival programme has been produced and will be on sale in several shops in Bakewell – Stewarts of Bakewell, The Pet Shop, Mad4Ink and the Bakewell Visitors Centre. They are £2 each, 64 colourful pages packed with information about the carnival, winners and pictures from last year’s events along with photos from long ago. All proceeds from the sale of the programmes goes to the Bakewell Carnival Trust which is a charity set up in 1974 to ensure the continuation of the Bakewell Carnival and also to assist where funds allow, local organisations that support the wellbeing of our community. Charity number 503322.
